Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help individuals process distressing memories, trauma, anxiety, grief, and other emotional challenges more efficiently than many traditional approaches. Many clients experience significant relief within just 1–5 sessions, although treatment length varies depending on the individual and presenting concerns.
ART uses guided eye movements and visualization techniques to help the brain safely process difficult memories and reduce the emotional and physical distress associated with them. One of the unique features of ART is that clients do not have to share the details of their traumatic experiences for the therapy to be effective. Instead, the focus is on changing how distressing memories are stored and experienced while preserving the knowledge and lessons from those experiences—often summarized by the phrase:
"Keep the Knowledge, Lose the Pain."
ART has been used to treat a variety of concerns, including:
Trauma and PTSD
Anxiety and panic
Depression
Grief and loss
Substance use recovery
Performance anxiety
Phobias
Relationship issues
Childhood abuse and other adverse life experiences
Why clients choose ART
Many clients experience relief more quickly than expected.
No homework is typically required between sessions.
Clients remain in control throughout the entire process.
Detailed retelling of traumatic events is not necessary.
The goal is not to erase memories but to reduce the emotional distress attached to them, allowing clients to move forward with greater peace and resilience.
